Supporting a Clean, Green and Sustainable San Francisco
Gigantic 3 Program
The Gigantic 3 provides large scale recycling, composting, bulky item and hazardous waste collection for San Francisco residents. Clean City coordinates the Gigantic 3 with Norcal Waste Systems, the Department of Public Works, the Department of the Environment and Goodwill Industries. The program visits a different San Francisco supervisorial district each month, allowing residents of that district to make an appointment for a free drop-off.
Tool Lending Center
Since 2002, Clean City has operated the San Francisco Tool Lending Center (TLC) to provide residents and property owners access to an extensive collection of tools and educational resources. The Tool Lending Center’s inventory of hand tools cover the areas of carpentry, gardening, concrete, electrical, floor and wall, and plumbing.
Electronic Waste Recycling
Electronic equipment contains harmful toxins such as lead and mercury that can contaminate the environment if not disposed of properly. In order to keep electronic waste off of our city streets and out of the landfill, Clean City hosts free electronic waste collection and recycling events for residents and businesses in San Francisco.
Fiscal Agency/Technical Support
Clean City provides fiscal agency and technical support to cleaning, greening, beautification and neighborhood improvement projects in San Francisco. Clean City’s neighborhood fiscal partners have included North Beach Citizens, Cortland Merchant Association, Mission Terrace Bridge Garden, Lower Haight Together Project, Noe Valley Association, and Lower 24th Neighborhood Association. Clean City has also contributed technical and fiscal support to graffiti abatement projects in the Mission, Chinatown, Excelsior, Bernal Heights and the South of Market neighborhoods.
